Designing the Thingstream product website
Thingstream is an IoT technology service provider enabling device communication across vast distances via satellite. It's technology utilises an unused low-power frequency on the 2G bandwidth to send simple on/off and location commands between devices without a data plan.
From the beginning of the project the overarching goal was for Thingstream to be acquired by a larger company. (Update: Thingstream was acquired by Swiss company u-blox in April 2020 for £8.5m). With this in mind, I wanted to focus the experience around the company vision and simplify the journey around its pricing structure.
Throughout the design it was clear that the technology could easily confuse users if not delivered in the correct way. With the physical product chip being a small fraction of Thingstream's offering I instead focused on making it easier to understand what benefits it could offer businesses, breaking content down by industry and simplifying the messaging around technology.
Combining this approach and the brand identity, I took the directionally-based slash accent from the logo and applied the aesthetic to numerous aspects of the the design including backgrounds, photography and supporting elements. This allowed a continuous brand message of communication, and movement giving focus to important elements with use of the brand purple.
